Debbie Christofferson, CISSP, CIPP/IT, CISM

Debbie’s leadership experience includes 20+ years as a global IT and Security Manager. She’s culturally diverse with international Fortune 500 experience at Intel Corporation, across the US, Europe and Asia. Debbie was a security manager with the Apollo Group, and currently supports the ISO community across agencies for the State of Arizona as an information security consultant. Debbie leads a statewide Enterprise Security & Privacy Governance Committee. She’s a long time security professional who knows how to create a successful security program, and to lead ISSA. She understands the profession and member needs.

Debbie led Phoenix ISSA as Chapter President 2006-2010, and served four previous years as Program Director. She was instrumental in the chapter’s growth and success, including attracting a strong board. This chapter quadrupled membership and attendance in that 8-year period, and was awarded Chapter of the Year in 2010.

Debbie is currently a Director of the ISSA International Board, serving out four years with this election cycle, for back-to-back two-year terms. She chairs ISSA’s CISO Advisory Council. ISSA recognized Debbie as a Distinguished Fellow in October.

Debbie actively supports our security community, through speaking, writing, informal mentoring, and leading CISM exam preparation workshops for Phoenix ISACA since its inception. Debbie is a relationship builder, who builds our community one person and one day at a time. She is an advocate of women in technology and it shows in the makeup of Phoenix chapter attendance.

Certifications: CISSP, CIPP/IT and CISM. Debbie is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), Women in Technology International (WITI), National Speakers Association (NSA) and is Secretary to Arizona’s Sonoran Desert Security User Group.

Statement of Goals

These are aggressive goals, because it’s a crowded competitive landscape out there. We want to be at the top of our game through:

Governance, Performance and Financial management

  • Create and execute a business plan and roadmap that marries the goals of our board, management team and chapters
  • Assess the association and board governance processes, and strengthen our oversight and financials at the back end
  • Identify metrics to measure and increase member value, retention, health and growth
  • Survey our members for how well we’re providing value and meeting needs
  • Make the finances transparent to membership and demonstrate sound financial management

Chapter Health

  • Create value that keeps our members coming back for more
  • Support our chapters, who are the heart of our association, to build more strength and resilience
  • Identify and grow new and struggling chapters in specific target markets
  • Formalize volunteer programs to increase involvement

CISO Executive Forum

  • In the CISO Executive Forum, support and grow our international base
  • Complete a needs assessment for this forum, to identify and implement methods to increase our competitive advantage and member base
  • Staff for support outside of the US base
  • Deliver an international conference in the US and an inaugural European event

Influence and outreach

  • Identify and communicate our value
  • Expand our influence and reach locally and globally
  • Increase ISSA outreach to security communities who don’t know we exist
  • Grow engagement in our female ranks
